You'll find way more reviews of hostels (including comments and ratings on cleanliness, safety and quiet) if you check Hostelworld.com or BUG
Generally, the ones in the Hostelling International/IYHA chain are usually pretty good.

Hi,
just punch Berlin hostels into Google and a map will pop up with lots of listings. from there you can choose by location and price. I will be staying at Pension Elegia in July, it looks really nice and includes a breakfast.

I found good reviews on the EastSeven Hostel. I didn't book with them, because with 6 of us, the price added up quickly.
