We plan to spend 2 days at Octoberfest this year...anyone have any suggestions for a good value pension near Theresienweisse? Last time we stayed out near Olympic Park, and altho it was cheap, it was too far away.
Hotel Uhland, www.hotel-uhland.de, is close to Theresienweisse--you could just walk from here. Stayed here several nights in June 2002 and it was lovely. Can also easily walk from here to Marienplatz.
We tried booking hotels in Munich a couple months ago for Oktoberfest 2008. I think I probably talked to about 30 different budget hotels and couldn't find anything within the city limits as they were all booked up. Of course there were lots of 200+ euro a night places available, but we didn't think it was worth the cost and hassle of what will probably end up being something quite similar to other festivals we have been to.
Anyhow, I wish you luck finding reasonable lodging in Munich! Let us know what you find out...
Just booked 3 nights at Hotel Muechner Kindl again this year. http://www.hotel-muenchner-kindl.de/web-site/_____WILLKOMMEN_____.html
130.00 euro per night, not a bad price considering how prices get inflated during the fest. I stayed there last year for Oktoberfest. Hotel is very close to old part of town. It's about 20-25 min walk to grounds. U-bahn stations are close to both locations.
See you there!
Prost!
