Paris to Frankfurt

We are going to be in Paris for a week later this month and just found out we have the opportunit to visit a German relative visit him in Frankfurt. Does anyone know of an inexpensive way to fly or take a train to spend the day? (A long day, but we don't an overnight won't work out.)

Thanks.

The route between Frankfurt and Paris is dominated by Lufthansa and Air France. I don't think they have inexpensive flights. Last time I checked, the cheapest connetions were Swiss Air and Alitalia, but they went through Zurich and Milan and took a lot of time.

There are some high speed trains between the two cities, but they still take about 4 hours each way. You'll spend a lot of time traveling for the time there. Maybe he'll meet you part way, like in Strasbourg.

You can also take a TGV -train to Strasbourg (about 2 and a half hours).
Then, from Strasbourg there is a Lufthansa shuttle bus (many times a day) to Frankfurt airport. That's also about 2,5 hours ride.

More information about timetables and prices can be found on the Frankfurt airport internet site, "How to get there", or something like that.

In any case, it's a bit far away without flying, if you're not going to stay overnight.
