A day trip is certainly feasible. It's a 1hr23min ride on Thalys trains.
A Comfort 2 (2nd class) return (roundtrip) ticket called Mezzo costs 122€. Subject to availability, a Mezzo + ticket costs 90€.
If you book far enough ahead (up to 90 days allowed) at www.thalys.com, you can get a Smilys return fare of 55€ or a Mini single fare of 25€ each way. You must book as soon as the 90-day window opens to have any chance of getting those fares.
Right now Thalys is offering a spring special of 41€ each way. Book by 16 April for travel no later than 19 June.
Go to www.thalys.com. Choose France and English and you'll be able to complete the booking process in English.
