I am looking at flying into Munich. I want to spend time in Munich, Salzburg, Insbruck Austria, Venice, Florence, and Pisa Italy. How long should I spend in each? Is traveling by train most effective? I want to fly back open jaw, either from florence or venic

Interlaken is in Switzerland, and, in my opinion, too far out of your routing between the other cities to include.

There is a lot to see in Munich as well as nearby in Bavaria. I would plan at least a week for Munich and Salzburg.

You can take an overnight train between Munich or Salzburg and Venice and save one day of travel.

How long to spend in each (except for the day trip to Pisa) depends mostly on what you are interested in seeing and doing. Give us some clues.

Although I highly recommend Venice, you may want to find out what kind of times you'll need to depart on your trip home if it's the last city.
If it's very early in the morning, the cost to get to the airport could be very high via private water taxi. This was something we were up against since we would be transferring in Paris for a late morning flight.
You may have a variety of options, but we prefer straight to Europe and doing our layover there as opposed to flying to an east coast US city. But it could save you money by choosing another departure point for the trip home. It was cheaper for us to take the train to Verona and fly out from there in the early morning.
