My husband and are planning our vacation and thought about France. We have only 12 days Aug 28 to Sept 9 which does not include travel from Canada. So 12 full days. I was thinking Chamonix, Annesy and Nice going on to Paris for the last 2-3 days and fly home from there. Any thoughts about this plan.
Would flying in to Geneva be the best for this trip? Any suggestions are appreciated.
I can visualize renting a car in Geneva, spend 1 night and 1 day in Geneva. Drive to Annecy (Spend 1 day and night), head to Chamonix, stay at least 2 night-days and pray for perfect weather to get up Mt. Blanc. Spend the next 3or 4 days in Nice/surrounding area. Drive through Provence? Stay a day or two, drive to outskirts of Paris and leave car or leave car near Nice and take bullet train into Paris. R. Steves guidebooks cover the areas you are interested in. Good Luck!!
Try flying into Nice and out of Paris
Train TGV from Nice-Lyon, 4H10m Pick up car, do Chamonix then Annecy back to Lyon TGV to Paris. This should save you some time traveling more time to sightsee. Check Air France trips are 10.5 hrs one change there.
