We are looking for a nice hotel near the train station in Brussels for a 2 day stop on the way to Paris from Amsterdam. Any recommendations?

Just personal opinion, but I'd recommend going to Bruges to spend your time. You can see the main part of Brussels in a couple of hours. Bruges is lovely and serene. Stop in Brussels; store your luggage in the train station lockers & go see the main area of Brussels; and then a few hours later, take the train to Bruges. It is so much more impressive than Brussels.
