We will be traveling to Giverny from Paris for a day trip. We are thinking of renting a car. Any ideas of where to rent a car from in Paris? Also we have thought about a taking a train and bus way. Any thoughts? Thanks for your ideas!
Taking the train is easy. At the station in Vernon the bus to Giverny is waiting outside. Another way to get to Giverny that might be fun would be to train to Vernon, then rent bikes for the ride to Giverny.
The expense and hassle of renting a car just to go to Giverny is so not worth it.. you may end up spending an hour is rush hour traffic just trying to get back into city,, a train trip is easier and cheaper.
Another vote for train from Paris and bus from Vernon. And be sure to leave enough time to have crepes in the hotel/resto behind Monet's home, Creperie La Musardiere (sp?). Delightful shaded patio and wonderful crepes (the salted caramel ones are to die for!).
