Without a vehicle in Southwest Ireland

We will be traveling to Ireland this spring and wish to concentrate on the southwest as we spent a week in Dublin this April, 2013. We don't want to rent an automobile. Where's the best city to stay in that has the best travel options for seeing the sights?

There are really no good options in the southwest without a car. But I guess I would suggest Killarney, since it is sort of a tourist center and would have a lot of daytrip options. Without knowing more about what types of things you want to do or see, it's hard to know what to suggest.

In Ireland, look for bus (coach) service where train service isn't available. A few years ago I traveled from Killarney to Dingle by coach. Also, I took a coach from Galway to somewhere to get to that Dingle coach. Maybe it was Tralee or Mallow.

Thanks for your response. On this spring's Dublin trip (first to Ireland) we used coach daytrip services to Newgrange and the Wicklow Mountains. We were pleased with the vehicle, itinerary, and the drivers' knowledge and Irish patter. Do you have any recommendations for a particular service or tour in southwest Ireland?

Thanks for your response. We used tour coach services from Dublin this spring and were quite pleased. In the southwest, points of interest to us are the usual tourist sites - Cliffs of Moher, Dingle Peninsula, maybe Aran Islands or Cork if time allows. We will look into Killarney.

Sorry, I can't recommend a tour company. I always drive.
