Hi everyone,
Can someone recommend a great tour of Windsor Castle? I am avoiding a massive Google search :) Thanks!
For Windsor, you don't really need an organized your. An audio guide is included in the admission price, it will explain everything you're looking at.
Wonderful...thanks Michael!
Plus, if you get a London Pass and a Travel Pass (as we are doing next month), your entry and your travel from London is already taken care of. Todd
I took the train from Paddington, connecting in Slough, to Windsor and bought the audio tour, which is very good and covers St George's chapel along with the state apartments. No need to book an outside tour.
Also, Windsor has two railway stationsthe one from Paddington is called Windsor and Eton Central and requires a change of train at Sloughvery straight forward to do as it is well signed. The other is called Windsor and Eton Riverside and trains to that station depart Waterloo station which is close to the London Eye. Station information and maps can be found for all UK stations at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk For this trip the stations involved would be Windsor and Eton Central http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/wnc/details.html Windsor and Eton Riverside http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/wnr/details.html Slough http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/slo/details.html Paddington http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/pad/details.html http://www.networkrail.co.uk/aspx/935.aspx Waterloo: http://www.networkrail.co.uk/aspx/959.aspx http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/wat/details.html I put both the Network Rail and National Rail Enquiries information for the London Terminals as the maps are a bit different and it's handy to have both.
I also would suggest getting tickets if you can at least 24 hours ahead as you can save money that way on some journeys.
I did a combined tour my hotel (Astor in Paddington) set-up. It combined Windsor, Bath and Stonehenge all in one day. It was awesome! Maybe your hotel will have the same info.
