Windsor Castle

Apparently the first Monday in May is a Bank Holiday. I assume the local museums would be packed with Londoners.

Would it be a good idea to go to Windsor Castle/Eton that day?

If not a good idea, what do you suggest for seniors?

It would be a great time to go. While in Windsor you can tour the castle, go to Eton and see Great Windsor Park. You can take the train from Paddington Station to London, it's a 35 minute ride. As you exit the train in Windsor go to your left, it's a 3 minute walk to High Street as you get to High Street you will see the castle. As you face the castle if you turn to your left and walk down the side walk to the 2nd road on your left, turn left and walk across the bridge and you will be in Eton. When you are inside the castle make sure you go into St. George's Chaple..it is so beautiful, as you exit the castle thru Henry VIII gate there will be a pub across the street which has great food. To get to Windsor Great Park, when you exit the castle and walk to High Street turn to your left and follow the road to the park. You have a fantastic view of the royal residents from the park. In the park is the Long Walk, which is the private road for the royal family to use when they enter and exit the castle.

Windsor castle may be affected by the bank holiday too, but make sure when you schedule your Windsor Castle visit when they are doing the changing of the guard there -- I like it better than Buckingham Palace changing of the guard. It's more up close and personal.
Have a great time!

Windsor will most likely be packed. Just arrive right when they open and be sure to see the Dollhouse first.

Bank holiday weekends bring out everyone... locals and tourists alike especially if there is great weather! Like someone mentioned, just plan on getting there early.
