Planning a trip to England June 2011 and would like tickets to tennis tournament, maybe one day. The web site offers tickets for the complete event week and must purchase one year ahead. Is this the only option?
In addition to waiting in line at the gate, there are also a limited number of same-day tickets released during each day of the tournament via Ticketmaster UK (there's a link at the official Wimbledon site). You'll need access to a printer for the e-tickets.
We were in London during Wimbledon last year. We took our two sons out and stood in line around 3:30 - 4:00 p.m., at 5:00 p.m. they only charge around $22.00 U.S to get in. We got in at 5:00 p.m. and enjoyed many of the matches that play on the outer courts. Murray was on center court and we watched from Murray Hill, Mauresmo was playing doubles, Paes and his partner were also playing doubles. It was a great evening for a small expense. Don't be discouraged by the line it moves quickly at that time.
