Wimbledon / All England LAwn Tennis & Croquet Club

I'm a big tennis fan but I never seem to plan my London trips during the championships. Has anyone visited the AELTC/Wimbledon outside the fortnight of the championships, is it worth going to? Thanks!

Just being there was a great experience as we are avid tennis fans and the museum was so interesting and well worth the time. We weren't able to go out to see the courts, though. We got off at Putney Bridge then took a bus there getting off when we saw the signs,so we wouldn't have to pay extra for the train ticket.

On my second trip to London, in 2003, I wanted to just go find the AELTC. It's easy by tube and a 10-minute walk. It was fun to be able to say "I've been there" when watching the championships on TV with friends and family. (There's an expensive museum, but I haven't been.) I don't know how much more worth it it is to go when there's no tennis. (I went for the tennis in 2006, and it was much more thrilling!)

It's definitely a must do. I'm not a huge tennis fan and I LOVED it. When I was there (2001) you could buy an all admittance pass and get to every match except the high-profile ones in the center courts which had concert-style seating. Wear a distinctive piece of clothing and get friends and family to look for you in the crowd! When I was there (by myself) I could get front row seats and see high quality tennis.
