I would like to use a cell phone service to connect to the internet in Ireland, UK, France and Spain. Can you help with providers of this service. For example, I want to use the internet where not hot spot exists. Typically this would be through a cell service provider. If you can lead me to the provider I will obtain the prices.

Who is your provider in the U.S....they may have an international plan or an agreement with a foreign provider.
Craig...wifi using hotspots and cell service are two different things.
Cell Service means you can connect anywhere in Europe. A hotspot is a specific location for wifi.
Which are you looking for....cell service for data or wifi?
In your original message you said you wanted to use the internet where there were no hotspots. Now, you want to subscribe to a hotspot service. Which do you want?
If I can find it for a reasonable fee, I want to use the cell service. I will inevitably use both, but I would be better covered with the cell service. I may have to weigh my options here depending on the cost and the availability of hotspots. As my itinerary becomes more specific as to hotels, and cities, I will be able to research the availability of hot spots better. In either case being able to do business without traveling to hot spots will be less obtrusive as I will be with my family vacationing.

My provider is AT&T and their international rates are very high. I would like to use a local service cell service if possible. Are you aware of the availability of free hotspots in Europe?

I have been doing some internet research on the subject and have found a service called Boingo. Can anyone familiar with their service tell me about them? Is this a useful service? They indicate on their website that they enable you to connect to 20000 hotspots around the world for $60.00

I had tmobile last summer and had my phone all set up to do just what you are saying (essentially it would have been free to call home through wifi). Unfortunately my phone wouldn't actually connect with any of the wifi spots we found. It worked in the US, but not when we were overseas. It was fairly frustrating, but only a $10 fee, so I didn't sweat it too much.
