Wicked Theater

My wife is wanting to go to see a few shows while we are in London. I am familiar w/ the Tkt Booth on Leicester Square w/ half priced shows. Can you find "Wicked" at the booth or is it still sold out each night? Also, how about Oliver or Lion King?

Popular shows usually sell their left over or cancelled tickets at the box office. Locals line up for the chance to get one. If its a show you really want to see get it in advance or go to an Agency when you first arrive. However you will find good enjoyable shows at the TKT booth

Jack, Wicked is, as you mentioned, a very hot ticket still. You won't find many discount opportunities, however the tix for London Wicked are substantially lower in price than NYC. Use theatremonkey as someone else mentioned. It will point you to the value seats at all price levels.

June of 2009, we got Wicked tickets around 4PM last summer for a show that evening. My husband walked up to box office when he was in the area. We have always seemed to luck out getting tickets to a show in London either the day of the show or the day before. They were not front and center, but in the balcony and fine.

The URL for the Official London Theatre site (not the one given by Robin) is www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk. You'll find a link on that site for TKTS. Go there to see what shows TKTS currently has on its list.

I have checked the web site and noticed that Lion King is listed but today they are not selling. Do they ever sell? Oliver-Is it there most days?

The Tkt booth only sells discount tickets for shows on the push list; that is they are having issues filling the theater. Half price tickets for popular musicals like Wicked, Lion King, and Mamma Mia don't show up very often. If you really want to see these shows purchase them in advance via Ticketmaster UK.

I figured Wicked and Lion King would still be in Hot demand. I know in NY-Broadway you can sometimes get discounted tkt the day of or right before the show. Is this the case in London (for the hot shows)? Also, anyone know if Oliver is a decent show?

I would suggest getting your tickets before going here is a website that I've used several times.....http://www.londontheatre.co.uk/lashmars/lionking/index.html.....or you could use ticketmaster. I have seen Lion King three times in London, it's fantastic. Wicked is good show.~~~If you don't get them before going I would suggest going to the box office of each theatre in the morning..The Lion King, Lyceum Theatre, Wellington Street~~Wicked, Apollo Victoria Theatre, Wilton Road.

Hi Jack, Take a look at theatremonkey.com. This site is a great resource for London Theatre. They give you opinions on seats, show you which is the official online ticket agency for the box office and what the service charges are. It will also show other legitimate agencies that sell tickets. The tkts booth posts all the shows available each day online. It sounds like you may have already looked at this, but keep checking (particularly on the days of weeks that you will be there) and it will give you an idea if the shows you want to see are likely to be available. Here is the link: http://www.tkts.co.uk/whats-on-sale-today/ I would definitely suggest that you buy Wicked tickets in advance. Oliver seems to be available quite frequently.

"Wicked" at the Victoria Apollo saves its front row tickets for VIPs. If front-row tickets are not used, the Apollo sells them on the morning of the show on a first come, first serve basis. Depending on the buyer's age, a senior citizen discount might be available.

Hi, Jack. My wife and I saw Oliver! last October and bought our tickets same day at the tkts booth. I recommend the show. We both thought the staging and musical numbers were terrific. A great cast (I think there are some changes since we were there) including the kids. People really seem to want the big shows like Lion King or Wicked at tkts, so we had no problems obtaining seats when we went to the tkts booth at opening time. We got first row balcony seats with no obstruction to our view. And if you're going to watch a musical set in London, there is nowhere better on earth to see it than London.
