Jana, my mom and I are going to London for my first time this summer, and we're staying at the Morgan Hotel just behind the British Museum. I picked it because the location can't be beatright next to a major east-west road (Oxford Rd) with lots of buses going by, and only a few minutes walk to the Tottenham Court Road tube station, which has two different lines going through it, and only about a 15 minute walk down Oxford Street to the Oxford Circus tube stop, which has even more lines going through. In looking at <a href="http://www.morganhotel.co.uk/index.html&quot;&gt;their website</a>, I see that a single room is only 105 pounds, about $160/night. Even though I haven't stayed there yet, the reviews I've read online for it have been uniformly excellent.

Jana, Usually RS will tell you the names of your first and last hotels when you sign up for a tour. You might see if you can extend at your London hotel.

Hi Jana, The London Elizabeth Hotel....http://www.londonelizabethhotel.com/ ~~~ is a great hotel in a great location. It's a two minute walk to Lancaster Gate tube station, across the street from Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park and around the corner from a great pub..The Swan.

I stayed at the Morgan HOtel a year and a half ago and was very pleased, so I am staying there again this summer. A single room is £100/night with a full (really full) English breakfast and free internet. The British Museum is literally around the corner and there are several good bus routes that stop in front of the hotel. What are your travel dates? Maybe we can meet up for tea - by the way, there is a lovely tea room, Bea's of Bloomsbury, about a 10-15 minute walk away, with the best scones I had in London.

Jana, I think you will find, like many of us, that once you've been, you will find a way to return . . . again and again. Sorry I'll miss you, I'll be there in July.

I got reservations at the same hotels (first and last) we are staying at on the tour. Don't want the hassle of moving to another hotel. I'm a single lady in my 50's too! Recently retired from teaching.
