Can you recommend a place to stay in Dublin that is central to the main attractions? I especially want to see the National Museum. We will be spending 3 weeks in Ireland in July and plan to rent a car and drive in the countryside then tour Dublin for 2-3 days before flying home.
Try the Hazlebrook House on Lower Gardiner Street. Very close to downtown and central. You can take the Aircoach from about a block away direct to the airport. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g186605-d601745-Reviews-Hazelbrook_House-Dublin_County_Dublin.html
Trinity College (where Book of Kells is housed) rents dorms and studios to travellers during the summer months and the rate includes a free continental breakfast which is ample (or you can pay a little more and get a full hot breakfast). Can't get more central and the atmosphere on the historical campus at night is very pleasant. They also have a coin-op laundry facility on campus if you need to catch up on washing some of your clothes during your trip. Grafton Guesthouse on South Great Georges Street is also very central and many of the main sights (with the exception of the Gaol and Guiness Storehouse) are within easy walking distance. The rate includes a full breakfast.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INFORMATION
This is our first trip over the pond and we are very excited, expecially since most of our ancestors were Scot, Irish, Welsh and who knows what else. :)
