Where to stay heading from Galway to Dublin?

It is a wee bit off the main road between Galway and Dublin, but we spent a night in Birr and loved it. We stayed right across the road from the gate to the castle grounds and we able to go for walks through the grounds ( we even saw the earl out walking). Since our visit I believe they have restored the large telescope, which would be of historical interest to astronomers.
