Where to go in Wales?

I'll be traveling alone on a 3-day layover from London & since I've already seen London, I would like to explore Wales. I'm taking the Megabus from London to somewhere in Wales, where should I go? Cardiff is the capital, but I want to see beautiful scenery too, not just city & people. Cardiff seems to be by the sea...I also here there are castles in some places, where? Where should I go? I am open to anything!

'also here there are castles in some places' Maybe four hundred or so. Here's my idea of the seven best (clockwise from the Severn bridge: Chepstow, Caerphilly, Kidwelly, Pembroke, Harlech, Caernarfon, Conwy. The best scenery is either on the west coast (Pembrokshire) or the northern mountains (Snowdonia).

Will you be getting a car when you arrive in Wales? That makes a difference.

go to northern Wales for the castles and scenery. I cannot understand the touting of Cardiff- it is just a big City, a lot less scenic than myriads of others in Britain.

I would probably go to northern Wales for both Castles and scenery. Cardiff is just a city, with a couple castles in it; It's an active port city, not a city on the beach. While I liked Cardiff Castle, it's a different experience than the Castles up north. Cardiff can be reached more easily from London, however, so that may be important in just three days.

Agree with Brad and Brian about North Wales. I'd also add that you should Google on "Welsh Mens Choirs" and try to catch a practice or a performance....one of the absolute highlights of our recent trip (we caught a performance in Llandudno, near Conwy).
