Where to eat in Inverness and Belfast

We are worried about starving in Inverness and Belfast. We look at the menus and are not very impressed with the choice of food. Can you suggest a good place in Inverness and Belfast to eat?
Thanks

As you stand along the walk on the castle side of the River Ness in Inverness and look across the river you will se two old, venerable hotels. Both serve excellent food. Just walk across the bridge to get to them. I will further say that we have never had a bad meal in Scotland so I don't know what it takes to impress you.

In Inverness you should try the Mustard Seed. It serves excellent food. If you just want a sandwich and good soup, go to Leakey's Bookshop cafe. Rocpool across the river from the Mustard Seed is also excellent. I had great meal there a couple of years ago. If you want pub food for lunch and a great view, go to the Castle Tavern behind the Castle. There's another high end restaurant near there, but I've not eaten at it. Another place for good pub food and it comes with music is Hootananny. Another higher end place is the restaurant in Glen Mhor, Nico's Seafood and Grill House. It's been a while since I stayed there, but the food was good then and it looks like it's gone up. The food in Scotland can be excellent. But like anywhere, you need to pay for it. If you go to a pub, then have bangers and mash or other traditional pub food. Don't have the lasagna! But the nice restaurants have great food. Scotland is known for its seafood, for lamb and for beef. And, of course, like all of the UK, you should be able to find a good curry house somewhere! Ask your B&B or Hotel manager. The wines are mostly French and Australian, some South American, not much North American. And of course, there is the whisky. Pam

I second the Mustard Seed. Went to an early bird dinner there. Very friendly and interesting offerings. I had sea bass that was excellent. Price was very good for early bird. Nice, but casual attire. (nice jeans, slacks and a clean shirt will suffice.) Modern atmosphere. Easy to find along river. You can look at map on Tripadvisor. Salmon and beef are very good in Scotland.
