where to buy sims card at Heathrow Airport

Hi, we plan to buy sims card for our unlocked phone when we arrive at Heathrow. Is there a place at the airport that we can buy it at a fair price? Just in case, we are not able to , can we buy it once we get to high street kensington area? Thanks.

How do you know if your phone is UNLOCKED? Would the Verizon Store do it? I had no idea that it was locked or could be unlocked. And if I buy a SIM card at Heathrow, how much does it cost per minute to call the US? Thanks in advance for helping.

Hi Pamela, our phone was bought overseas and we had it unlocked there. If you have Verizon, then chances are it is still lock. There are some places that can unlock phone for a fee like $30 or so. If you live in california, you can find places to unlock it But if not, then try talking to verizon to see if they are willing to unlock it for you .I would assume for a fee. As for the minutes, I would not know. I will just know when I buy the sims cardthere.

Youll pay twice as much there. There are vending machines in the airport and train stations.

Do you really have to have it the minute you land?

Tami, do you mean that sims card cost more at the airport than at kensington area where we will be staying? It'll be good to have one when we land so we can call home and my parents won't worry but it is only if it is convenient to get one otherwise we'll wait till we get to the hotel.

Its a Sim card actually, and it would be a bit cheaper to buy it from a corner shop than at the airport. They sell them in newsagents shops (Small mini shops that sell drinks, newspapers, snacks).

The vending machines at the airport are pricey.

So if money is no object, then the vending machines should suffice.
