After walking my bum leg to numbness touring NYC with family a week ago, I've decided that going to Scotland to meet my walking friends is not a good idea. ; ( I've never been to Wales and I thought that this might be a good time to do a weekend there. It has the decided advantage of being closer than Scotland. Clearly, I can't do the coastal path or climb Mt. Snowden, but there must be other things I could visit. I love history, music, photography and more. Does anyone have a suggestion? Pam
Hi, Pam: One of the highlights of our trip to the U.K. last year was our three nights in North Wales. We set up shop just outside Conwy and visited two excellent castles - Conwy and Caernarfon. We especially enjoyed the latter - highly informative guided tour. You said you like music, so by all means take in a performance by a Welsh men's chorous (Google to find performances, or even practices). We found a 7:30 performance at the Methodist church in Lladnudno on a Saturday night and it was fantastic! As far as photography, the whole place is one Kodak moment...just get in your car and travel through the valleys. And you could also take the train up Mt. Snowden, which would save you the hiking. Lots to do....

We would stay at the Gwynfryn B&B in Conwy. Ideal location inside the city walls, easy walking access to everything and Monica & Colin are great hosts. Check the website: www.gwynfrynbandb.co.uk . We stayed in the Rouge Room. Enjoy your visit and take care of that leg!
