What's the best way to get from Heathrow to Waterloo station?

I have a group of 3 going from Heathrow to Waterloo station at mid day. Would you recommend the Heathrow express or just the regular train? Best Value?

I would do it on the underground from Heathrow. Take the tube (Picadilly line) from the airport, and transfer at Green Park to the Jubilee line to Waterloo. Or the transfer could be at Picadilly Circus onto the Bakerloo Line to Waterloo. A map of the underground can be printed if you google it.

The Heathrow Express goes to Paddington and is very expensive for a party for 3, but that's just me. I travel frugally.

I agree with Norma...take the tube (London Underground). It will take just under an hour.

If they want to save about 15 minutes, they could take the Heathrow Connect to Paddington and then get on the tube (Bakerloo line) to Waterloo. This will cost more.

One question...your group of three isn't planning on taking the Eurostar is it? If so, be advised that the train no longer leaves from Waterloo and now leaves from St. Pancras.

Thanks for the suggestion. No I won't be on the Euro star. I am just looking for the least expensive way to get my family of three to my hotel. Taxi too expensive?

Taxi will be between 50 & 75 GBP

The Tube for the three of you will be 12 GBP.

If you have a lot of luggage and can't manage steps, you might think of a shuttle service. A few have been mentioned. Do a search on the helpline and you'll get some suggestions as well as costs. Less than a taxi.

For a private car service many people recommend www.justairports.com. Waterloo is in postal code SE1. The cash fare for a saloon (sedan) is £35 and for an estate (station wagon) it is £39.

As others have said, if you're packing light and can easily schlepp your own luggage, take the Tube.
