I stayed at Clew Bay Hotel (with a Rick Steves tour). Good location, though at the time (2008) I was housed in the "old" part of the hotel that had not yet been updated (I suspect this has been remedied by now, but it wouldn't hurt to ask). Decent current ratings on TripAdvisor. Make sure to go to Matt Molloy's pub of Chieftan's fame (http://www.mattmolloy.com/pub_about.html). Saw some of the best trad music there, including a local man who made up songs on the spot. Wonderful.
