Weather in late Sept. and early October

Another question! I'm preparing for rain and cooler weather, but wondered, as a hiker, I know sometimes wind can cut through you and make it seem much colder. I'm planning on taking my Columbia weather jacket, but whould I keep the fleece lining in it? We'll be traveling from Dublin south then on to Dingle, up the coast to Northern Ireland the end of September into the first 2 weeks of October. Just trying to get the clothing right!

I wore my fleece in Scotland in July.... ; ) Think about it as another layer. I only needed it that one time, but I was soooo glad to have it. Actually wore gloves for a while too. Maybe Ireland is warmer, but I think I would have fleece with me in October. Pam

Not sure where Trenton is, so I do not know what weather you are used to, but I would certainly take your fleece. The dampness can be quite chilling even when the air temperature is not too low.

Layer up. Remember Ireland is like being in Maritine Canada weatherwise. Wicking Turtle necks, a wool sweater and a hat to pull over your ears would be a welcomed addition I'm sure. I was in Scotland at exactly the same time and the weather jacket is exactly right. There may be some days you won't need fleece, but who knows.

Not same place,, but I wore my fleece and windbreaker in Paris in late May,, and was still cold! Of course a week later it was broiling, point is,, always take the layers.

Weather at that time is supposed to be in the 50's, and a cooler at night. That's been my experience. Usually sweater and light jacket weather. The farther north you go, the cooler, The closer to the sea, the windier. I'll be there at the same time and I'm stocked up on sweaters. But, it's still in the 60's and low's 70's in London.

JUNE in Scotland at 3000ft (there was some residual snow) - required T-shirt, jumper, fleece, Gortex ski jacket, ski gloves, walking trousers and Gortex overtrousers! Plan for same in Ireland. It'll be wet and windy too. Layers are essential. (Ireland is a bit warmer but is wetter - regardless UK & Ireland have very changeable weather). Note - will be getting darker in October. s
