Visit to Geiranger, Norway

I will be on a cruise visiting Geiranger. I would prefer to walk to viewpoints and sites rather than take one of the shore excursions, but my searches for distances and other info generally talk about driving to places. Does anyone know if it is possible to walk to some of the viewpoints above Geiranger and how long these walks/hikes would take? I am limited by the amount of shore time available (let's say 5 hours tops). I'm leaving next Sunday - sorry for the short notice on this request - for some reason I didn't think about asking on this forum until today!

Thanks, Norma. I had looked at this site before but spent another hour looking at it in more depth. Most of the walks are guided tours, others require traveling somewhere to start the walk (by boat, bus or auto). I was able to find two descriptions of walks on tripadvisor - to the church and to a small village south of Geiranger. Further research showed that a trip up the hairpin turn road to the wonderful viewpoint is 19 miles, so....not really walkable in the time frame with the ascent! There is a hop on hop off bus that goes to several viewpoints, so that may be the answer. Although I leave on my trip next Sunday (15 July), I'll be in the Netherlands before the cruise starts. The ship gets to Geiranger on 31 July, so I'll keep checking here to see if anyone else has some suggestions. Thanks! Edana
