Victoria Station to the London Eye

Hello, my husband and I will be flying in to Gatwick on a Friday evening, and we want to take a flight on the London Eye that night. Most buses and trains go from Gatwick to Victoria Station, and I'm just wondering about the best way to get from Victoria Station to the Eye (bus, Underground, Taxi, etc.). We already have our tickets for the Eye, but no reservation.

Thanks for your help.

Take the Circle or District Line two stops to Westminster tube station and then walk across the Thames...or just walk to it. The walk's a nice 25-30 minute stroll.

Addition: The walk will take you past Westminster Abbey, Parliament, Big Ben and then across the Thames.

Katie,

As Frank II mentioned, it's not too difficult to walk from Victoria Station to the London Eye (you'll need to cross the Westminster Bridge). My Hotel was on the far side of Victoria Station on Ebury Street, and I walked to the London Eye several times.

I used the Gatwick Express (train) for the trip from the airport to Victoria Station. The trip was about 30 minutes and cost about £15 as I recall (you can buy tickets at the airport or on the train).

Happy travels!

The others are correct its a nice stroll from Victoria station to the London eye. Hope for great weather!
BTW did you know there is a regular train in lieu of the Gatwick express albeit a little slower, but if time is not of the essence, ask at the ticket booth at the station, the fare is much cheaper (around 8GBP one way) if one is trying to save some money. Same route, just stops at a few more stations rather than fast tracking.

Take plenty of money, London is very expensive, buut fun!!!

Hi Katie,

As others have posted: Walk. It's an easy walk plus you will go right past Parliment and Big Ben.

If you don't want to walk as much, you can take the District or Circle Line to the Embankment Station and switch to the Bakerloo line. My wife and I used this route when we went to the Eye this summer. We actually came from a different direction at the end of a day of touring, but returned to Victoria using this route.

You can also walk From Embankment up to Westminster, you will see Cleopatroas needle along the bank of the Thames.
