We have to catch the Eurostar at 8.05AM and are to be there at least 1/2 hour before train time. Is it better to take a taxi or what this the best route by Metro.
Take the Tube. It's a 9-minute ride on the Victoria Line directly from Victoria to King's Cross/St Pancras.
Tube. I agree with Tim. At that time of day (well any time of day) surface traffic (bus or taxi) is slow. Allow a little leeway in extra time for crowded trains, minor delays etc- but still miles better to take the Tube
How are you getting to Victoria Station? VS is very big with shops and food stalls and it serves train, coach, private coaches and the tube all in one station. It is well signed so unless you're walking or getting dropped off directly at the tube side leave 10 minutes or so walk through the station itself. Take the tube and as always "Mind the Gap".
I'll agree with Brian and Tim - take the Tube. The Victoria Line takes you straight there. As others have said, add a couple extra minutes for crowded trains, walks across the station, etc, but the Tube is your best bet.
We did this just over a week ago. The trains were packed, and they were staggering the entry of people into the Tube to avoid over crowding. We had been advised to go a bit early and added 10 minutes, which was the delay. But other than that slight wait upstairs the ride was timely and easy. Good luck,
Marty
