Victoria station to Heathrow

We have 3 people staying near Victoria station with early flight out of Heathrow. Best way out- tube, taxi, bus, express or should we change hotel location? How long does it take? We leave on Monday 9/15.

The first National Express coach (bus) leaves Victoria coach station at 07:15 and arrives at the Heathrow central bus station at 08:00.

The first Tube trains that would work (either Circle or District line) leave Victoria at 05:40. With a change to the Piccadilly line at South Kensington you will be at Heathrow at 06:33.

Thank-you. Sometimes something simple is hard to find the answer for- this is a great help

If you have a lot of luggage or don't want to deal with stairs, take the district line to Hammersmith, and cross the platform to the Piccadilly line which will take you to Heathrow.

Jennifer, we just did the National Express Coach to Heathrow from Victoria Station. The Victoria Station area was a very nice, safe place to stay. The coach trip was very easy to do. I would suggest that you go online to buy your tickets ahead of time. The line was quite long. We had done National Express tickets for another leg of our trip, and it would have made for a much better use of our time while we were in London if we would have done it while still at home.
Have a great trip!

Jennifer, print out a map of the area before you go, with directions from your hotel to the station. Victoria Railway Station and Victoria Coach Station are not the same, although they're near each other. When we were there we tried to ask directions to Victoria Coach Station, but everyone we asked was also an international traveler.

i think you could negoate a taxi for ABOUT the same price as 3 tube tickets in early not crowded time ask a taxi man .

The tube is 4 GBP per person. That's 12 GBP total. No taxi will take you from Victoria to Heathrow for 12 GPB....More like 40 or 50.

It does say in a RS book somewhere, the taxi is cheapest with 3 people.I find it hard to believe. I read another post stating they took a taxi from Westminster to Heathrow for 30 L. I don't know if that distance is comparable. The coach will cost us 18L, because my Mum's a senior. Thanks for the tube amount. Do senior's get a discount on the tube? I have to see if my Mum is in shape for the tube at the end of our journey. I am a penny pincher, but sometimes there is a limit. Is a cab any faster?

There are no seniors discounts on the tube and buses in London.

The other major difference of tube v National Express bus is that the National Express bus drops you off at the Central Bus Station, fine for Terminals 1,2,3 (a 10 minute walk) For Terminals 4 & 5 you need to go down to the train station and wait for a train (Heathrow Connect to T4, Heathrow Express to T5). Both run every 15 minutes and are free.
The Underground goes direct to T4 and T5 with their own stations, (though check on the train you're on). Half stop at Central then terminate at T5, the other half go to T4, then Central and back to London missing out T5

Broadly terminals for US flights are :

Terminal 1: United
Terminal 3: Virgin, American
Terminal 4 : Continental, Delta, US Airlines, NorthWest
Terminal 5: British Airways

Jennifer,

I would just take a cab to the airport, for your moms comfort. Make sure you take a London black cab, not a private one. They are the only cabs that can use the bus-only lanes between the city and the airport.

We have returned from a great trip. We ended up taking the district line from victoria station. We changed at Baron's court at the advise of someone on the tube, because the Picadilly Line was on the same platform we just walked a few steps (very easy). It took 1 1/2 hours, and less than 4 GBP.
