ViaMichelin Travel Times

We'll be driving from Liverpool to Inverness, Scotland. I pulled the directions from ViaMichelin, but I've heard alot about how unpredictable the travel times are in GB. Are the times provide on ViaMichelin fairly accurate or just the minimum travel time based on distance? Does anyone have experience using these directions? Thanks!

I use ViaMichellin for planning my route by car. The GPS sometimes chooses a different route, but the ViaMichellin predictions have been pretty close to actual travel times in Germany and nearby areas in adjacent countries. I have not driven in the UK, but I presume performance would be the same. What they don't account for is stops along the way. Traffic congestion can be a wild card in Europe as in the U.S. Also: If ViaMichellin fails to offer a fairly direct route for no apparent reason, enter some in-between towns in the via points boxes.

We frequently use theaa.com. It's the trip planner for the British version of AAA and the travel times seem to be accurate.

As a general rule, I add 10% up to half an hour to the times on viamichelin, google, etc. for planning purposes. But even that can be off depending upon time of day, day of week, month...

Yes, April allow for more time. I think our GPS this last trip hated us. And if you can buy a road atlas as well. It helps you to see where you are going and let the GPS get you there.
