Venice-Gatwick British Airways, Gatwick-Dublin AerLingus time needed?

My flight from Venice to London Gatwick arrives at 12:50. I will have luggage, that I need to check in from Venice to Gatwick, that I need to store in the airport and then I will fly to Dublin without luggage (just a carry on) How much time do I need between flights to be able to do this? (I have never been in Gatwick so unsure how big and far things are) Thanks!

Here is the guidance from the Gatwick Airport site on transfer procedures including Ireland ........ http://www.gatwickairport.com/check-in-security/connecting/ ....... Have a look at the maps etc on the site ..... It is difficult to predict the length of time you will have to wait in line for passport control and at baggage reclaim plus all the security checkpoints. It will depend on the number of flights arriving at about the same time as you. Also if you are flying BA (which will be North Terminal) it is quite a long walk (10+ minutes) to passport control etc....... Even though the three flights I have taken from Italy into Gatwick this year have arrived on time, I would still build in time to allow for late arrival of your flight from Venice. At least three hours to allow for all the formalities and possible delays? I am cautious by nature and hate rushing!!!

Thanks! I have the option of taking a flight at 2:50pm which would be great if I could make it or the next one at 6:10pm which would mean wasting 5 hrs at the airport =/ but I'm guessing that's going to have to be my option cry

With the way these things go you will find that you zip through everything and would have made the earlier flight!!! But with the extra task of storing your luggage before you board your next flight, dare you risk it? Have a great holiday.
