Vancouver Studios-London

Has anybody stayed at the Vancouver Studios in Bayswater? We are three oldies who have booked the property out of an old Rick Steves "Great Britain"...2002 issue and it looks wonderful for our purposes! The price is pretty medium for London and the area is pleasant with Hyde Park just a 10 minute walk. Each studio has a kitchenette so if we are tired at the end of the day...we can bring in something for a light supper. And there is a frig for some breakfast stuff...so none of the monotonous same greasy English Breakfast for a 7 night stay. And they gave us a discount for staying 7 nights!! It sounds GREAT.

My wife and I stayed at Vancouver Studios last September, and absolutely loved it. The rooms are small, as are most British & European hotel rooms, but it more than met our needs. The staff at the hotel were very pleasant to deal with, and the place was as clean as could be.
The kitchenette came in very handy for us, as we really dreaded the thought of having to get dressed just to have breakfast. We bought butter, croissants, and other stuff at a nearby Tesco's, and had breakfast in our room every morning. (Tesco's has these marvelous little pork pies that come in a plastic cylinder holding four of them. Warm them up in the mikey, and they're great with your morning tea!)
The kitchenette is fully equipped, and comes with a supply of instant coffee, tea, and chocolate.
The only drawback we could find with Vancouver Studios is the lack of an elevator. There are rooms on the ground floor, however, if the lack of a "lift" is a problem.
If you're into antiques at all, the famous Portobello Road antique market is only about 5 blocks away, and is a wonderful way to spend a Saturday.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give Vancouver Studios an 8.5.
And by the way, we have reservations there for 4 nights next week, and are looking forward to our return visit.
