I'm interested in seeing a couple of plays whilst in London. Prince of Wales Theatre. I'll be alone, and likely going home at night. Is there a good value place to stay that's very safe to walk to from the PofWales theater?
Laurel,
We walked everywhere at night in the Theater district (and Piccadilly)...it was all safe. For recommendations in the area, go to TripAdvisor and use the search function. Under neighborhoods, drop down to Covent Garden/Trafalgar Square/Picaddilly, or under Mayfair/Soho/West End. There are lots of hotels listed (by rank in the city).

Do a google search for 'accommodations near Prince of Wales Theater'. See what you get. I can recommend Country Inns and Suites: countryinns.com/hotels/gb/london/207
Laurel, Prince of Wales is just about a block off Shaftesbury Avenue. This area will be packed with people after the show ends so you will be perfectly fine walking back after the show. There aren't a lot of hotels in this immediate area. Instead, I'd suggest that you choose a hotel close to a tube stop. After the show, you can walk to either Piccadilly or Leicester Square and catch the tube.
I've gone out many times on my own at night in London both as a tourist and as a resident. You will be fine.
