I am planning a 9-10 day trip to Norway fall 2013. Looking for best airfare/ airline from U.S. and preferred train route Bergen to Oslo or vise versa. Thanks Matt
To find the best airfare, use http://www.kayak.com. If you can fly SAS, I definitely find it nicer than US airlines like Delta (I don't know if SAS flies out of Seattle). But from Seattle, you will have to make at least one change to get to Norway; I'd make sure it wasn't more than that. I'd also favor changing planes in Europe over changing in the US (in other words, get from Seattle to Europe in one shot, then change to get to Olso or Bergen). I'm not sure what you are asking with "preferred train route from Bergen to Olso or vice versa." Did you just want to get between the cities? That's easy; there's a direct train, which can be done by day or by night, or you can fly. Or did you want to do the Norway In A Nutshell? In that case, just look at Rick Steves Scandinavia or his Snapshot Norway. He has ALL the details, far better than anyone can give you in the 2000 character limit here. He tells how to do it in one day, or places you can stop off on the way for a night or more.
SAS deserted Seattle in 2007, unfortunately. The best fare from here now might be on IcelandAir. But I would check British Airways too, as we prefer that flight.
Thank you Harold and Lola. Icelandic Air seems to have the best pricing out of Seattle.
