Hi all,
We are heading to Scandinavia next month and were wondering if using an American credit card was a major issue. We'll need to pay for trains, hotels, meals and ferries. Not sure how to swing that on cash with the ATM limits. Thanks
In 2009 I had absolutely no problems using my magnetic strip credit cards in Denmark. Almost all tourist based merchants should be able to swipe your card and have you sign. If you know your PIN, you can even sometimes enter the PIN instead of having to sign. Automated machines probably will not work so you'll have to use an attended station. In rare cases you may need to pay cash, say at a restaurant that isn't familiar with swiping the card the old fashioned way.
