I will be travelling by car in Ireland with my 20-something grandson & his girlfriend. We would like to stop at B&B's part of the time. Will their unmarried status be offensive to B&B hosts?
How would they know?
Why would they care?
Many unmarried couples stay at B&B's.
Don't worry about it one bit. It ain't like when you and I was young, Jo. Things change.
Don't Ask, do not tell.
No one will care, but if you're planning to get a single room and a double, they might just assume that he will be staying in the single.
Not an issue whatsoever. I stayed in Ireland B&Bs in the 1970's with my girlfriend, sharing a room (and bed), and it wasn't even an issue then.
Stop worrying about it.
I stay in Ireland 2 or 3 times a year (my wife is Irish). I think they would think it quite quaint and amusing that you even bugun to have thoughts along these lines.
Ireland has changed an awful lot in the 30 years I've been going there. Its gone from a very religeous Catholic country to where few people under 35 go to Church at all and living together as opposed to getting married is everyday.
Thanks. No further qualms.
