undeveloped film and Heathrow

Has anyone had any experiences in successfully getting security to hand inspect film (without sending it through the x-ray) at Heathrow?

It doesn't need to be hand inspected. The xray used won't damage film. Heathrow doesn't always have the friendliest security people, so I wouldn't count on them cooperating.

They wouldnt do it for me at Heathrow. The guy looked at me as if I had lobsters crawling out of my ears when I asked if they could hand inspect my disposable cameras. I usually use those as a back up to my digital camera anyhow, in case something goes wrong or batteries die, etc, so at least i have a camera with me if that happens.

I go through Heathrow about twice a year and all my film, etc. goes through the normal Xray without any problems. Just don't pack it in your checked luggage, if any. If you have 35mm film, you can have it processed in London in an hour or less.
I have also have film developed in Arles, Avignon and Paris and had CDs made so that I could upload it.
But don't worry about film going through the hand luggage screening machines!

All over London there is a Snappy Snaps photo developing chain, logo and sign are green and yellow. They can do 1 hour or less developing and are usually in the touristy areas. I took my film there and they do a great job and its not too expensive. I also got my digital pictures developed there.
