UK electric converter - info needed

I am traveling to England from the US for 3 months and need to take my computer. Does anyone have any suggestions for converters that worked on their own computers, or any info on converters in general? Thanks.

It says 125v. So that's ok? I've been strongly cautioned about plugging in US electronics into British outlets without a voltage transformer...

Also, does anyone know if there are any converters that receive 3 prong US plugs, or if I can plug a adapter so I can plug my three pronged computer cable into an international converter? Confusing, I know.

What Steve says is absolutely correct, but are you sure it only says 125V? Since you are taking it with you, it must be a laptop (notebook/netbook). How old is it? What make is it? Virtually every laptop made in the recent past is dual voltage, so I am really surprised that it only works with the lower, North American voltage.

It said 125v on the converter. Its a Gateway that is a little over a year old...

I don't have a lap top, but I know our camera, cell phone and GPS, and curling Iron convert over internally. Just need a bring prong plug converter. Look closely because it seems like a lot of electronics are made that way now.

Ah!

I was looking in the wrong place...The chord says 125v, the pack says 110-240v - which I assume is the voltage it sends to the computer. So it looks like I am ok with the computer, and I just bought an adapter...but do you think its advisable to buy a voltage converter anyway?

Since your computer is already OK for world voltage, a voltage converter would be worthless to you. You just need the plug adapter.

Find out if you need to switch your machine to the different voltage. Most are automatic, but you never know.

You will need a UK-style plug converter.
