UK and Ireland

My husband and I are planning our trip to the UK and Ireland in May. Even with the guidebooks I'm a bit overwhelmed. We will have a total of 13 days on the ground. I'm thinking to spend 5 of those in Ireland (fly into Dublin and out of Shannon)and the balance in England and a day or two in Edinburgh. In England we're thinking London, Bath & the Cotswolds, York. (Although the Beatles tour in Liverpool is quite tempting.) Then up to Edinburgh. Ireland would be Dublin, Dingle Peninsula, and The Burren. We're pretty energetic and are willing to cram a lot in. We like to be flexible too, so I'm concerned about planning accommodations and getting locked into a set itinerary. Will we run into difficulties if we don't nail down ever single stop our our way?

Debi, first I'll just say "have fun!" My husband and I traveled flying by the seat of our pants as he always called it. We'd fly into a country, find a hotel or a B&B and head out. Only made reservations once and that was in the high season in Paris and we wanted to make sure we had a place to sleep! London is such fun! We usually would hit the rails and go North, stopping when the mood hit. We'd do a lot of "planning" about what we really, really wanted to see but in the end we were flexible and got off the beaten path.
All the places you've mentioned sound good and we enjoyed everyone.
