We have planned this on our own & wonder what you think of it. We are healthy 70-year olds and like to savor places.4 nights in Oslo with acquaintances. Train to Myrdal, N in Nutshell, stay in Flam 3 nights, ferry to Bergen and stay 3 nights. Fly to Alesund and stay 4 nights. Fly to Stockholm, stay with friends 4 nights. Fly home to US. In each place i think there are many day trips. We need hotel suggestions, of modest price, close to town. Any other suggestions are welcome!
Hi Ann,
I'm not sure if you have a place to stay in Oslo or not (you said 4 nights with acquaintances), but if not I'd suggest Hotel Bondeheimen. It is a really great location and decent price (everything is really expensive in Oslo). Best prices are on their own website- not the Best Western Website. Also, you'll want to request a room in the back.
I don't have any suggestions for the other nights, but 3 nights in Flam sounds like a lot. You mentioned you like to savor places, but there really isn't much to do there. My suggestion would be to travel there one day- spend the night. Do Norway in a Nutshell the second day- spend the night. Then leave the third day. That will give you plenty of time there and you will be able to add another day somewhere else like Oslo, Bergen, or Stockholm. Another option would be to take the express boat that stops in Balestrand and spend an night or two there. I haven't been there before but we're going to stay there this summer.

I enjoyed the THON Hotel chains - and since they are all over - you can sign up for the "frequent" progream and get in discounts or free nights- since you would be staying many days.
Hi Ann, I'd agree with Kristy regarding Flam. It is really small and there is very little to do there. I stayed overnight there twice when traveling between Oslo and Bergen. I'd suggest just one night. Travel Oslo-Myrdal-Flam the first day. The next day continue on to Bergen.
I would add more time in Stockholm.
