Two Nights in Conwy, Wales

Training from Edinburgh so probably won't arrive until afternoon. Since we will only have one full day and afternoon/evening of another, 1st week in October, would it be better to take the train through the Snowdonia National Park or just spend the full day in Conwy and/or take the train to Caernarfon for more sight seeing?

Thanks,

Dave

I'd make it just Conwy and Caernarfon; there's plenty to keep you busy for a ccuple of days in either one, but I'd weight Caernarfon heavier.

I hike Snodownia quite a bit, the problem is that it gets somewhat unpredictably fogged in and the railway could well be a waste of time.

Thanks, Ed, for the information. Will head to Caenarfon on one of the days. Looks like the castle is something special and a walk along the seawall should be a special treat.

Happy travels.

Mmmm, cream cakes. Conwy is lovely, especially on a blue sky and gorgeous day. People think my pictures must be made up, it just looks too fairy tale.

I'd also throw in Caernarfon if you haven't been, another amazing castle.

Honestly, I liked Conwy much more than Caenarfon, I suppose because Conwy was much more of an intact walled town. We stayed in Conwy, and also went to Caenarfon and through Snowdonia, doing the last two as a single day-trip. You would need a car to do that though!

Conway is a perfect small town worth an overnight, and there might be a show on in LLandudno.Connections are very good.
In fact the bus system is one of the better in the UK A day ticket is about £5, unlimited travel. You could head down the Conway valley and pick up the Snowden Sherpa service over LLanberis pass, on route to Caernarvon the next day.

The weather in October may determine what you do in the end. can be rainy then, be flexible.
