Two Buckingham Palace questions...

(1) How does one know the specific dates when the changing of the guard will be held in September? (Same with Windsor Castle) All I can find is that it will be every day in July and every other day for both in August (odd days). No mention of September... (2) Are the three Palace attractions (State Rooms, Royal Mews, Queen's Gallery) all worth our valuable travel time? Thanks for your assistance.

To answer your second question, all I can say is that I enjoyed all the Palace attractions very much. But I suppose that depends on how interested you are in that sort of thing and how much time you feel you have to devote to it. For me, I felt that if I were going to see it, I wanted to see it all.

Edited after reading Swan's post below: When I visited, there were horses in the Mews. I'm not sure how you could know ahead of time whether they would be there or not. I enjoyed also seeing the carriages.

I loved the Palace; I've taken two tours over the past 11 years. They change the tour annually. Two years ago visitors were able to walk thru the royal park and even have tea there. My trip to the Mews was disappointing. There were no horses there. I haven't been to the Gallery. There is a lot of art in the palace, and major art galleries in London are free.

Maybe (quite likely) I'm missing something, but the link that Steve provided uses the two terms interchangeably - which takes me back to my original question....O.K., it's alternate days after August - so will the ceremony occur on say, Sept. 13th or 14th?

These dates are from the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace website..........

September Provisional Schedule, please note that the confirmed schedule will be posted towards the end of August

2nd,4th,6th,8th,10th,12th,14th,16th,18th,20th,22nd,24th,26th,28th,30th

I hope this helps. Also, the Royal Mews, Queens Gallery and the State Rooms are worth the visit.
