My sister graduates from high school next summer, and I decided to treat her and her friend to a 2 week stay in England. I went to Europe for 2 1/2 months last summer and fell in love with London, so I want her to see that for sure. But I didn't go anywhere other than London in England. is there any advice to what my plan should be? Plus, since there are 4 of us all together, is there any way to find cheap decent hotels?
Your question: "I didn't go anywhere other than London in England. is there any advice to what my plan should be?"It's a broad question, essentially, where in Europe (besides London) should your group of 4 go.We don't know enough about your preferences and interests, or those of the other 3, to answer such a broad question. The best advice I can give is to recommend you begin your trip planning by buying at least one of Rick's book: Best of Europe or Europe Through the Back Door. Best of Europe will give you many itinerary ideas, and ETBD is about travel skills.We'll try to help further when you can come back to us with more specific questions. Good luck and best wishes on your trip planning.
You really need to do some homework so that you can ask questions that can be answered easily. Staying in London will be expensive just because London is very expensive so you might consider some loops out of the city to places like York, etc.
What level of comfort do you want, spartan or middle or luxurious. Hotels can run from 25-35 pounds per night to out of this world.
For 4, if staying in an area for a week, or more, you might want to look into an apartment. More space, refrigerator available, cooking facilities, etc.
If you tell us preferences, then we can suggest places.
Depending on where you wish to go, travelodge is have a £29 per room sale right now. Also, look at accor.com for their different brands and different hotel rates. Do not forget priceline.com.
Easyhotels.com have rooms from £24.50. They are the spartan ones.
Cheap decent hotels are impossible to find in London. I suggest you try a hostel. Read about them here:
http://travel.nytimes.com/2009/04/19/travel/19hostels.html?scp=1&sq=travel%20hostels&st=cse.
Some hostels offer rooms for four with a bath. Check the prices in London here:

I have found several relatively cheap, but quite decent hotels in London. One such hotel is the Gower house. You can also look into hostels.
Several London universities rent out their dormitories very reasonably, some with bathrooms en suite, most of them with use of kitchen but no utensils (no coffee mugs, pots, pans, silverware) but with four of you, renting an apartment makes the most sense. Plan early enough and get cheap tickets on the Eurostar and then head over to Paris. If you loved London, you'll adore Paris. Get an apartment in Paris, too.
Rick Steve's London book has dormitory info. The dorms are usually available late June till about mid-Sept.
Here is a link to an article I wrote about basing yourself in London and doing day trips;

if it asks for your zip code use 28208
If you are going to do a lot of train trips, consider a BritRail pass.
Nikki, go to the library and check out Rick Steves DVDs on England. You'll see just about every section of England somewhere in the videos. By the time your done, you won't be able to decide. Enjoy.
