trip to Copenhagen

We are planning a trip to Copenhagen in mid March. We have not traveled to Europe before, but are going to see a child in school over there. School is in Copenhagen. What are suggestions to visit? Child is living 45 minutes north of Copenhagen.. sights around there? Also, are there good B & B's in Denmark or do you suggest central hotel in Copenhagen? Thanks for your help.

Some obvious recommendations are the National Museum, strolling on the Stroget, the Viking Ship Museum at Roskilde, and a canal boat tour if the weather permits. If you like modern art, you should visit the Louisiana Museum in Humlebaek. It's north of Copenhagen, quite close to Helsingor. I recommend that you get the Insight Guide for Denmark. It has lots of detailed information about places to see, as well as background.

The natural history museum and Danish resistance museum are also great if you like museums.

If you have the time, consider a trip to Stockholm. It's absolutely beautiful, though it might be a bit cool in March.
