Driving in Cardiff. Even with a sat-nav, it took forever to get out of Cardiff. Again, train/bus/taxi would be worth your while, if you're not familiar with UK driving rules, or only want to hit the tourism high spots.
Driving in Bath. Lots of twisty streets, and hills. I chose a B&B (Prior House - really nice) on the Northwest side of town (Costume Museum, Bath at Work, the Cresent were all within walking distance)and one of the stops on the big red tour bus. Good deal on that - ticket is good for all day, jump on/jump off. Also would have been good for a second day, but we bought it on the last day we were there. Car was not necessary to get around, and was a waste of trip dollars in retrospect. We expected to see the things in a day, and have another - nope. Lots of things to go see, easily 2 days solid, even if your legs hold out. :) Ticket from the Roman Bath allows you a free (otherwise 50p) glass of hot "Bath" water in the Pump room. Tastes like most well water, and is about 104 degrees f.
