trip medical insrance for Britain

I bought flight protection insurance with my plane ticket and for reasons too complicated to go into here, did not get trip cancellation insurance. I am on medicare which does not cover out of country medical costs and would like to get a policy which would protect me for illness on a two week trip to Britain. I found Rick's blurb on insurance which recommends some all-inclusives and a company on-line, HTH, which offers medical. Any suggestions as to what would be reliable. I don't anticipate problems but who knows.

We bought a medical policy through Insuremytrip.com. And, the year we bought it for the first time, we had to use it. We were pleased with the reimbursement. The policy we bought was for medical only - no trip cancellation.

Thanks, Sharon, that was very helpful. I was just looking at insuremytrip.com and found that the site offers several companies. Do you remember which company you bought?

I have always purchased "medical only" through Travel Insured International. Years ago, my travel agent recommended it and I have used them since. Thankfully I have never had a problem, but always feel secure having it. They offer 3 plans to choose from, I always choose the middle priced plan - it includes Pre-existing Medical Conditions.

Following some tips here and info on line, I have purchased a policy which I, of course, hope I won't use. For others who are searching, here are some sites. Kiplinger (the magazine) comes up if you type insuremytrip.com on google. They suggest that some plans sold by travel agents aren't from licensed companies so you won't get re-imbursed for losses. They suggest comparing plans on insuremytrip.com and checking the company out at U.S. Travel Insurance Association to see if the company is licensed. insuremytrip gives you tools for comparing policies and prices, both for comprehensive insurance and medical etc. only. Which company you can use often depends on which state you live in. Hope this helps others looking.

Another comparison site is Squaremouth.com. I bought my medical through them last month when I went to Paris (no cancellation, and luckily didn't have to use). All of their companies are A rated.
