Trip # 5 to Stockholm

Heading to Stockholm for a few days...to meet family. Any special places that you would recommend? We've done Vassa, Gamla Stan (love it) the palace, and my favorite Pippi Longstocking's House. I collect Swedish Horses. Any suggestions for unique finds?

My experience in Stockholm was limited to a few hours lay-over. But the highlight for me was sampling a Tunnbrödsrulle from one of the many stands scattered around the shopping district. Go for it if you haven't yet tried one!

We liked the archipelago tour, Skanson, taking the steam boat to Drottngholm, Sodermalm in Stadsmuseum (very small museum, but well done, on history of Stockholm), and the history museum.

In addition to the places you've seen and the ones mentioned above, I loved the Millesgarden. And of course, you'll want to explore Sodermalm.

All good suggestions above. I also really enjoyed and recommend Millesgården with beautiful sculptures in a serene setting with a nice view across the water. A good venue if feeling overwhelmed by crowds. In addition, a tour of Stadhuset (city hall) is worthwhile, in my opinion.

All the prior suggestions are good. If you are into Swedish food, I'd recommend Östermalms Saluhallen, a beautiful old food market which I think is a great place for lunch. Another place that I love when the weather is nice is Rosendals Trädgård; this is a garden and apple orchard which has a wonderful café with beautiful salads and baked goods. You sit outside and you will be among lots of Swedish families. David Lebovitz (a food blogger) recently did a bunch of posts on his trip to Stockholm which I really enjoyed. Here is one of them David Lebovitz Stockholm . There are a lot of beautiful food pictures. For the Swedish horse (Dalahäst), you will usually see them in many of the tourist shops, but not sure where you would find a unique one. You might try this store Svensk Hemslöjd. It sells Swedish handcrafted items. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will find their address and phone number and you might try calling when you get there to see if they have them.

When I visited Stockholm last year I really enjoyed the Fotografiska museum...but of course I am not sure of your interests. Thought I would mention it.
