My college aged daughter and I want to experience Scandanavia in a short 4 day trip. I've heard that Copenhagen, Aero and the Norwegian fjord areas are top areas to see, as well as Stockholm. We're flying in from Alicante, Spain and not sure if it is worthwhile to fly into Gothenburg or Billund on cheaper airflights or for time sake, fly directly into Copenhagen. What should be our priorities on where to go and what to see?? Many thanks for your help!!
Areo is WONDERFUL...............
If you can get to Bergen Voss for the Norway in a Nutshell tour .......do it !!
Don't try to do too much. I suggest limiting the trip to one country. Consider Stockholm, Sweden. Visit the Old Town (Gamla Stan), the Vasa Museum, The Nobel Museum, the Royal Palace, and a daytrip to Waxholm.
The advice about one country is right on target. However I must suggest Denmark. Copenhagen is a wonderful place from which to take daytrips; plus there is so much to do in the city itself. For me, it is the "most alive" of the Scandinavian capitals.
You can even catch an early train-bus-ferry ride for a one-day trip to Aero. This offers a wonderful view of countryside, small villages........the drawback is wanting to get off the bus and explore every small village you enter. I found far more to do in Copenhagen that in Oslo. A klipkort at the train station gets you to all sorts of nearby places. I suggest Roskilde (wonderful cathedral where royalty is interred; also a super viking museum); Dragor a long-ago fishing community that transports you back hundreds of years; Frederiksborg in Hillerod is as Rick says "the grandest castle in Scandinavia." There are countless other places of high interest. Go for Copenhagen and day trips! I've been for the last eight years! Wonderful!
