Is it a good day trip to travel from Kinsale along Rte N71 via Clonakity,Skibbereen, Bantry to Kenmare and then onto Killarney. We are staying in Kinsale and then Killarney and wanted to see the beautiful scenery along the way but am not sure if it is a realistic drive for one day?
Easily done in one day. I've made the drive twice and highly recommend it as in my opinion one of the most beautiful drives in the ROI.
Plan to take about 3.5-4 hours not including stops.
What Tyson said. That's probably the best drives until you get way the heck up north.
You will have plenty of time. Stop along the way at Drombeg Stone Circle. Take the R597 at Rosscarbery. It is a bit off the main route -- but worth it for the view. Also take time to look around Kenmare -- may favorite town.
Thanks alot for the info and suggestions. I definitely wanted to stop at the Domberg stone circle and also Mizen Head Lighthouse as well as Kenmare. We will be staying in Killarney for a few days and plan on also exploring the Dingle peninsula.
We drove from Kinsale to Ventry (just past Dingle Town) in a day. Make sure you make plenty stops. There is a lot to see.
We drove Kinsale to Kenmare and then to Killarney. The drive from Kenmare to Kilarney thru Molls Gap and ladies view was outstanding
I agree-make sure you give yourself at LEAST a full day in Dingle-it is awesome ! Follow Rick's guided tour in book.
