Traveling in Southern Scotland

We are considering traveling to Scotland to visit the Lockerbie Disaster Memorial near Dumfries. Is it feasible to get there from Edinburgh by train or would it be better to rent a car? Thanks.

Christina, A quick visit to the National Rail site shows that Edinburgh (Waverly) station to Dumfries is 2 hours with a change in Carlisle. It looks as if Lockerbie and the memorial is actually closer to Glascow - you may want to fly into there.

There are plaques scattered around the village of Lockerbie. The main memorial is about a mile to the west at Dryfesdale Cemetery. Lockerbie has a train station around which I've seen a couple of taxis. I've not used them or the train.
